BSc (Hons) Psychology with Foundation Year is a four-year undergraduate programme designed for students who need additional academic preparation before starting degree-level study. COURSE OVERVIEW

The BSc (Hons) Psychology with Foundation Year provides a structured and supportive route into higher education for students who may not meet direct entry requirements. The initial Foundation Year focuses on developing academic writing, research skills, critical thinking, and independent learning, ensuring students are fully prepared for university-level psychology.

As the course progresses, students explore key areas of psychology including biological, cognitive, social, and developmental psychology, alongside practical research methods. The programme encourages both theoretical understanding and real-world application, preparing graduates for a wide range of professional roles or further academic study.

  • Positive Psychology

  • Optional modules such as Forensic Psychology, Occupational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or Child Development

Level 6 (Final Year)

  • Professional Development in Psychology

  • Independent Research Project

  • Optional modules including Counselling Psychology, Behavioural Neuroscience, Cyber Psychology, Political Psychology, or Gender & Sexuality

Assessment Methods:
Assessment is mainly coursework-based, including reports, presentations, case studies, and applied research tasks, with minimal exam pressure.

Academic Requirements

  • GCSEs or equivalent qualifications, including English

  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications are accepted

  • Applicants without formal qualifications may be considered based on relevant work experience

English Language Requirements

  • IELTS 6.0 overall (with no band below 5.5) or equivalent

  • Students who previously studied in English may be eligible for exemption

Additional Requirements

  • A personal statement demonstrating motivation and interest in psychology

  • Basic computer skills and reliable internet access for online learning

  • Willingness to engage in independent study and research-based learning
